I'm looking at a 2018 Passat in Umm Suqeim and honestly the car drives beautifully, smooth and quiet and the seller has kept up with servicing, so my gut says go for it. But I've heard enough about DSG gearboxes and TSI engine quirks to know my gut isn't worth much when it comes to these cars, and a fifteen minute test drive won't tell me if the gearbox is on its way out or if there's something lurking in the electronics. A mate mentioned quality Volkswagen used car checks in Umm Suqeim and said it was the best few hundred dirhams he spent, though I'm still deciding whether I'm being sensible or just overthinking a car that seems fine. I'd rather not buy on a hunch and find out the hard way, but I also don't want to pay for a check on every single car I look at. Has anyone here had a VW inspected and did it actually give you a clearer picture, or did you just trust the service history and get lucky?
